You must sucessfully complete at lease two dives using EANx,
one of which is to be a repetetive dive. You will be required to analyze you own breathing
mixture and to plan and safely execute each dive. The dives must not exceed a depth of 130fsw
or 1.6atm PO2 whichever is less. No planned dives requiring actual decompression stops on the
appropriate EANx tables are to be permitted. A maximum PO2 of 1.4 is to be taught and used
with 1.5-1.6 as contingencies; of course you will have to take this class to know what this
means.
The following lecture topics will be covered in a single evening session; history of Nitrox
as a breathing gas; Daltons law of partial pressures; physiology of oxigen and nitrogen; depth
limits, advantages, disadvantages and risks of Nitrox; oxygen toxicity; hazards and precautions
of handling oxygen; the concept of Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with Standard Air Dive
Tables; common gas mixing proceedures; and gas analyzing proceedures. |
